Hi There, My name is LauRen McFee

I’m a singer-songwriter ,Presenter Dancer, I have been working with Respond Academy since 2003 .

My main instrument is the a Double Bass but I stopped playing at 15 to concentrate on my singing but really i wanted to have long nails for a change .

I am currently working at MPCT in Hastings I love my job.

Working as a Peer Mentor,Trainer at RESPOND ACADEMY for the last 7 years has really helped me develop my skills relating to my personal music and work which has finally a paid job which I love. .

Anyway I’ve been doing Gigs Community & High Profile as i said for the last 6/7 years and it’s a massive part of my life.
Without it I wouldn’t be doing any of the things I am doing today as I would have no skills at all.

I would say that I’ve probably played 150 to 200 gigs over the past 5 years and that number is rising .

I’ve recorded and released my 1st Album AS ONE

Respond Academy has helped me a lot in finding confidence
Also I’ve met so many interesting and inspiring people that if I wasn’t part of Respond Academy I would of missed so many in a Once in a lifetime experience.

Via Respond Academy I’ve also had the chance to play some amazing events around East Sussex and Beyond and work with some Famous Professional and amazing projects

Hi There, My name is Hope Rudd. I’m a singer-songwriter working with Respond academy. My main instrument is the guitar but I’d like to learn the piano to a higher level also.

I currently attend Brighton Uni studying Music and Art, This is a great course for as it helps me develop skills relating to my personal music and work. I’m trained as a sound engineer and used to own a production company working in a studio, Although both of these are difficult I’ve learnt a lot from them and they are useful skills in finding work. I also do abit of promotion on the side.

Anyway I’ve been playing Guitar for about 6/7 years and it’s a massive part of my life. Without it I wouldn’t be doing any of things I am today as I would have no skills at all. I gig on a regular basis and Since I started gig with bands and solo I would say that I’ve probably play 150 to 200 gigs over the past 5 years and that number is rising everyday. I’ve recorded and released 3 albums but am now working with a different instrumental set up using Looping pedals and an effects unit so the new album I’m working on should be bigger and better then before.

The Respond Academy made us extremely welcome, and had the atmosphere of a small party ! The students had obviously worked seriously hard on their great pictures – and i had some lovely conversations with musicians, and visual artists. Having booked shows, workshops, and tours in the past myself – i know how much work is involved ,and they did a brilliant job. For this to have been the first event of its type at the Academy bodes really well for the future. I look forward to returning. Huge thanks to JC and Pablo.

i have been part of Respond Academy from the beginning 2004 .

I have been involved in numerous workshops classes and performances since 2004.

Now I am older 25 I still work as a Peer Mentor / Tutor and work on the Day time School project as well as the Evening Community Projects .

The amount of talent that comes from the projects is incredible.

The younger members show so much talent.

I am also a Film Maker/Editor and apart from the numerous video shoots I have worked on over the years I am currently working on a

Film Project with International Documentary Film Maker Michele D’Acosta and I

have edited some footage she was going to use as an advert to promote OPERATION RISE.;

This is a Global PEACE PROJECT and now Respond Academy are linked to it as well.

Now most of my music is with my friends. We are known as LAZYGANG.

Michael Harris (aka Mister.Mikul)

Hello,
My name is Michael Harris (aka Mister.Mikul), a young artist at Respond Academy. I’m a Singer/Songwriter and am also developing skills in playing piano.

I’ve had a passion for music for a long number of years, however my interest have changed and I went onto other interests. However, for a couple of years now I have come back to music and have pushed myself to develop my skills has a Musician. From an early age I would always sing, in particular I did like Swing music. When I came back into developing my music skills, I failed at doing Pop-Style!! I went back to Swing and Jazz and now I’d like to say I’m just a modern Crooner, I’d probably compare myself to Michael Bublé or Frank Sinatra; although i’d like to say I have my own personality with music. I’ve also took to learning and playing Piano, and will be writing a couple of songs this year for Piano.

However, I have skills in other areas, which include enhancing and improving my skills for 3D-Animation and Games Development (which I’m currently studying at University 2011-15), and lately found a new interest in being a Cartoonist. I also have a passion for story-writing and poetry. I’ve currently written one Poem and am aiming to write a number of short stories for 2012, possibly a bigger story towards 2013. But its the era of the 1940′s-50′s that fascinates me most, there were many good points of that era; and I’m hoping to bring it all back to life in the modern world with modern content and style.

I’ve been to many events with Respond Academy over my time since I started from Future Talent 2011. I first performed at Future Talent (kind of like a guest performance) with Home by Michael Bublé, from there on then I went on to go with Respond Academy on most of their events leading the Fund Raisa, Pay The Rent, and others such as in Eastbourne and International Children’s Day. We’ve also been and worked with an Oxford Youth Project which we took a trip up to, and we’ve also had at Respond the fabulous Robert Mitchell Trio for the event JazzHeadz. I’ve sung a range of songs such as Mack The Knife, Nice ‘N’ Easy and gone on to perform two of my own songs ‘One Dream’ and ‘I’ll Keep On Smiling’. I am currently working on doing my own album ‘To Catch A Rainbow’, I have written all the songs and plan to write the music for them; and hope to keep going on afterwards. As well as that, I’ve produced most of my own artwork for my page, website and album covers. As well as that, Respond Academy are now working close with the Peace Project. I’ve also been amongst the number of other Respond artists to work on producing the Soundtrack for The Killing Fields movie project. So 2012 and onwards is as I’d like to say my revolution.
