Respond Academy’s trip to Oxford

A group of 14 young people from Hastings and St Leonards went on a trip to Oxford Leys courtesy of The Chairman of ESCC Cllr Rupert Simmons. The donation was made to support the development of the RESPOND ACADEMY creative arts programme.
Road Trip to OXFORD LEYS Community Development Initiative (CDI) Youth project, has been building a relationship with RESPOND ACADEMY. It is a lottery funded project in excess of £300k on the largest housing estate in Europe.
14 members went on the trip organized as part of ongoing development for RESPOND ACADEMY members to see how a similar creative arts music youth group operates.
The team of young people from Respond Academy had the chance to show their incredible range of singing, harmonies, MCing and production skills. The CDI Production team said, “the quality of your Artists was outstanding”
Devonerri enchanted CDI Team with their incredible harmonies. Next up was DICE, HITSMAN & MASTA SWIFTA with a unique style of R&B, Grime, & Dubstep. Respond Academy vocal coach LauRen said that the fact that the CDI team have a very expensive music production suite bought with Lottery funding, and were impressed with our members’ talents, was a real boost.
The trip really made our members appreciate and value the free access they have to specialist equipment and how they are being taught to use the technology and the space to develop their music and performance skills.
CDI were so impressed with the wealth of talent in evidence that they are offering to help us with a joint Lottery Funding Bid so we can do more joint ventures.
